International Trends and Services

The International Trends and Services facet of The Links, Incorporated promotes global engagement through humanitarian efforts and international policy awareness.

To address ongoing health crises in Haiti and Liberia, the Brooklyn Chapter launched a multi-year medical support initiative focused on women and children. In Haiti, following the 2010 earthquake that displaced 2.3 million people, the Chapter partnered with the 1199 SEIU We Care for Haiti Campaign to provide hygiene and health essentials through individually packaged Survival Kits. This project earned third place for International Trends Programming at the 2014 National Assembly.

In Liberia, the Chapter responded to the aftermath of a 14-year civil war that decimated healthcare infrastructure. The Brooklyn Links have provided mama kits to support safe childbirth and partnered with Dr. James Sirleaf—founder of HEARTT (Health Education and Relief Through Teaching)—to offer on-the-ground assistance. A Brooklyn Links physician joined a HEARTT medical mission, and the Chapter is now developing educational modules to support local healthcare providers.

These efforts reflect a sustained commitment to strengthening global health, particularly for women and children—the most vulnerable populations. Through these partnerships, the Brooklyn Chapter continues to uplift communities and respond meaningfully to global needs.
