Health and Human Services

The Health and Human Services facet’s mission is to improve health outcomes and life expectancy through programs that support healthy living and expand access to essential healthcare resources.

The Health and Human Services (HHS) facet of The Links, Incorporated addresses the health disparities that disproportionately affect Black communities, aiming to improve life expectancy through education, advocacy, and access to care.

As a Tier 2 site for HeartLinks to Heart Health, the Brooklyn Chapter promotes cardiovascular wellness through seminars like Every Heartbeat is Life, participation in Go Red events, and top-ranked fundraising for the American Heart Association’s Brooklyn Heart Walk.

Since 2012, the Chapter has led Can You Imagine Me?, a childhood obesity prevention program recognized with first-place and legacy awards at Eastern Area Conferences.

Through Linkages to Life, we raise awareness about organ, tissue, and bone marrow donation in partnership with local congregations.

We also support the National Breast Health Initiative by providing breast health education and participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.

Lastly, we teach children proper oral care through Colgate’s Bright Smiles, Bright Futures.
